(00) Leeds LS11 — Software Engineering
Most systems don't break. They calcify. We build the kind a team you haven't hired yet can still open and edit.
Lozdel started as a rescue service. For three years we were the people you rang when a build had stalled and the original team had already gone.
We inherited half-finished repositories across Yorkshire and the north-west. A stock system that could not be compiled on any machine still in the building. A booking platform whose only deployment instructions were a screenshot in someone's leaving email. Triage taught us a great deal, and it taught us the wrong lesson first: we assumed the fixing was the business.
Then a client in Holbeck asked us to build something from nothing. We shipped it in 2022. Four years on, a team we have never met is still extending that system without ringing us — no rescue required. That is the only piece of work we point at now.
So the studio stayed small on purpose. Seven engineers. Six or seven projects a year rather than thirty. The person who writes your code is the person who answers your email, and there is nobody in between to soften either.
We turn work away. Fixed price against a specification nobody has read twice, equity in place of an invoice, a launch date three weeks out with the requirements still moving — those are not projects. They are apologies scheduled in advance.
(02) How we work
(03) Engagements
Prices below are our starting figures for a Leeds-based team, quoted before we have seen anything. Scoping replaces them with a real number, usually within a fortnight.
Two weeks. We read whatever code already exists, sit with the people who actually use the thing, and hand back a build plan with real numbers in it. Yours to take elsewhere.
Internal tools, customer portals, booking and billing systems. TypeScript, Postgres and infrastructure dull enough to stay up on a bank holiday.
One codebase where that is honest about the product, native where it is not. Through both store reviews, which is the part everyone under-budgets.
Joining up the systems you already pay for — Xero, an EPOS, a warehouse, a CRM nobody has audited since 2020. Frequently the cheapest line on this page and the one that moves most.
Where the studio began. An audit, a written risk list ranked by what actually bites first, and a route back to a deployable build.
A named engineer, agreed hours, response times written into the contract rather than implied. Thirty days' notice, both ways.
We do not sell hours by the day and we do not staff a project we cannot see through to production. If what you need is two developers for six weeks, we will tell you so and point you at someone who does that well.

If you complete the enquiry form on this website we collect the name, email address, message and any service selections you submit. We collect no other personal data through this website. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
We process enquiry data on the basis of our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR — namely responding to a request you have made of our business — and, where a working relationship follows, to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract under Article 6(1)(b). The essential cookie described below is stored on the basis of your consent, or as strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested.
This website stores a single item in your browser's local storage, named lozdel_cookies, which records whether you accepted or declined this notice. It contains no personal data and is not shared. No analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies are set on this site, whether or not you accept.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for marketing purposes. Enquiry data is accessible only to the engineers and directors of Idfe Software Limited, and to our email provider acting as a processor under contract. All data is held within the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area.
Enquiries that do not lead to a working relationship are deleted within 12 months. Where a contract follows, we retain project correspondence for six years from the end of that contract, in line with the limitation period under the Limitation Act 1980 and our statutory record-keeping obligations.
Write to [email protected] to exercise any of these. We respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please raise it with us first at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF — telephone 0303 123 1113, or ico.org.uk.
This website is operated by Idfe Software Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 17349226, registered office Millshaw Ring Road, Beeston, Leeds, LS11 8EG. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Idfe Software Limited. Any contract for services formed following an enquiry made through this website is a contract with Idfe Software Limited.
We provide bespoke software engineering services: technical discovery and scoping, custom web application development, iOS and Android development, systems integration and API engineering, audit and remediation of existing codebases, and retained engineering support. The scope, deliverables, timescales and fees for any engagement are set out in a written proposal and are agreed before work begins.
Nothing on this website is an offer capable of acceptance, and no payment is taken through this site. Enquiries are made by the form on this page, by email or by telephone. We then issue a written proposal; a contract is formed only when that proposal is accepted in writing by both parties.
Figures shown on this website are indicative starting prices, exclusive of VAT, and are not a quotation. The fee for your engagement is the fee stated in the accepted proposal, which remains open for acceptance for 30 days from the date we issue it. We invoice separately after the contract is formed, on the schedule set out in that proposal. Invoices are payable within 14 days unless otherwise agreed in writing. Late payment may attract statutory interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
The accepted proposal sets out the deliverables, the milestones and the target dates for each. We deliver work to the repository and infrastructure agreed at the start of the engagement, and access to both is granted to you from the first commit rather than on completion. Timescales assume you supply the access, content, decisions and review feedback the proposal identifies as your responsibility, within the response times it states. Where a delay is caused by something outside our control, or by material we are waiting on from you, the affected dates move by the length of that delay and we tell you in writing as soon as we know. We do not treat target dates as guarantees of a fixed completion date unless the proposal expressly says so.
Where you contract with us as a consumer and the contract is concluded at a distance or away from our premises, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the contract being formed, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. To cancel, write to [email protected]. If you asked us to begin work within the cancellation period, you must pay for the work performed up to the point of cancellation. Business clients may cancel or pause an engagement on 30 days' written notice, and remain liable for work completed and for committed third-party costs.
Where a consumer cancels within the cancellation period, any sums paid are refunded within 14 days, less the value of any work already performed at your request. Where we fail to supply a service with reasonable care and skill, your remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply, including repeat performance or an appropriate price reduction. For business engagements, refunds are handled under the terms of the accepted proposal.
On payment of all sums due, ownership of the bespoke source code and materials we produce for your engagement passes to you. We retain ownership of our pre-existing tools, libraries and know-how, and grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive licence to use them as embedded in the delivered work. Third-party and open-source components remain under their own licences, which we identify on handover.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability arising from an engagement is limited to the fees paid by you under that engagement, and we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of data or indirect losses. Nothing in this clause affects the statutory rights of a consumer.
Raise any complaint with us first, at [email protected]. We acknowledge within five working days and aim to resolve within 20. If a dispute cannot be resolved between us, both parties agree to consider mediation before commencing proceedings.
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own jurisdiction.
